Ohio City Recorded Magnitude 2.5 Earthquake Sunday Morning

It was recorded south of Dayton

A magnitude 2.5 earthquake was recorded Sunday morning around 11:09 AM EDT in southwestern Ohio between Dayton and Cincinnati. The approximate epicenter of this minor quake was about 2 miles north-northwest of Springboro.

There is little information about this quake, but it occurred at a depth of 7 miles, and was recorded by 13 seismic stations. There were no reports of anyone feeling the earthquake.

Earthquakes in Ohio are uncommon, but do occur throughout the year. According to a 2024 report from the Ohio Geological Survey and Department of Natural Resources, 129 earthquakes were recorded in Ohio.
