Columbus Nonprofit, CAPA, Renovates Historic Church
After more than a decade of silence, CAPA is breathing new life into the space
As part of WBNS-10TV's boomtown coverage, highlighting the growth of central Ohio, we’re focusing on a major new development in the arts. The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) is gearing up for a multimillion-dollar renovation of the former Central Presbyterian Church.
Located at 132 South 3rd St., the historic building in downtown Columbus was once filled with hymns and hallelujahs. But after more than a decade of silence, CAPA is breathing new life into the space, with plans to turn it into a music venue.
"We've been trying to find a reuse plan that really connected to the community," said Jason Gay, CAPA’s head of capital projects. "Our mission is really providing event spaces for the community, not just for local and touring artists, but also for community groups to be able to come in and use the space."
