On Friday, White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow told CNBC that the White House is considering federal support to help industries and workers impacted by Coronavirus (COVID-19). In response, American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) sent a letter to the White House urging the Trump administration to include associations in financial support to the travel and tourism industry as a result of COVID-19).
In the letter, ASAE urged the White House to include tax-exempt associations suffering from event cancellations and reduced meetings attendance in any federal aid package. In addition, ASAE asked the White House to include tax-exempt entities in any temporary aid designed to stem the economic fallout resulting from COVID-19.
“Meetings are the lifeblood for many associations and tax credits or other federal assistance are greatly needed to protect associations’ limited revenue streams and ensure tax-exempt organizations can continue to fulfill their important missions to the benefit of society,” said ASAE President & CEO Susan Robertson, CAE.
ASAE encourages association professionals with appropriate contacts at the White House to share this message.
