Crowne Plaza Columbus-Downtown to Lay Off 103 Employees

The layoffs began March 20

Crowne Plaza said it planned to lay off approximately 103 employees from the downtown hotel, according to a letter from the company.

The letter was sent Wednesday to the Office of Workforce Development and Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther's office in accordance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act of 1988, which requires employers to give official notice to certain government units or officials of a pending mass layoff.

According to Crowne Plaza, the layoff at Crowne Plaza Columbus-Downtown is due to the COVID-19 pandemic and "a result of unforeseeable business circumstances, namely a dramatic reduction in room occupancy and business operations."
