More than 30,000 Movie Screens Agree to New Protocols
The show must go on—and thanks to new guidelines from the National Association of Theatre Owners, it will. NATO released a list of recommended protocols and guidelines for theater owners and patrons that will allow people to return to the big screen while minimizing COVID-19 public health risks.
“In this new pandemic world, moviegoers need to know that there is a consistent, science- and experience-based set of health and safety protocols in place no matter what theater they visit,” John Fithian, president and CEO of NATO, said in a news release. “This unprecedented industry-wide effort is a promise designed to meet that need.”
The voluntary guidelines establish a nationwide standard that more than 300 companies have agreed to meet. The protocols, known as CinemaSafe, will be implemented at more than 2,600 locations, reaching 30,000-plus screens.
