Ten Killed in Major Israeli Military Operation in Jenin in the West Bank

The assault came despite the ceasefire to which Israel agreed

Israel continued a major assault on the city of Jenin in the occupied West Bank for a second day Wednesday, in an operation that has killed at least 10 people and injured 40 others, according to the Ramallah-based Palestinian Health Ministry.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the military operation, named "Iron Wall," would be "extensive and significant."

While the ceasefire in Gaza holds following the release of three hostages for 90 Palestinian prisoners and detainees, and as a surge in humanitarian aid is delivered to the enclave, violence has flared in the West Bank. The Israeli assault began hours after Israeli settlers rampaged through Palestinian villages, targeting homes, businesses and vehicles, according to Palestinian and Israeli authorities, as well as rights groups.
