Inside were about 30 of the most beautiful puppies you’ve ever seen, exhibited behind glass with price tags attached. I was immediately heartbroken. I had read about the pipeline of puppy mills to retail pet stores and learned about the breeding mothers confined in cages for life. But nothing prepared me for being confronted with it in such a bright and friendly environment.
