About the organization: The Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) is an international professional association of 10,000 annual members with the administrative office located in Bowling Green, Ohio. The premier membership organization in the field, SIOP’s mission is to enhance human well-being and performance in organizational and work settings by promoting the science, practice and teaching of industrial-organizational psychology. SIOP’s communications staff works with association leadership to achieve strategic goals, raising visibility for the profession and meeting the information needs of members.

Functions: Assist with development of web content, social media campaigns, public relations campaigns, and various promotions for society meetings and conference.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Write monthly electronic newsletter
  • Assist with development of content for website, to include stories based on member interviews, meeting promotions, organizational deadlines, and honors & activities
  • Monitor and record media mentions for SIOP and its members to produce quarterly Members in the Media column
  • Assist with SIOP’s social media presence, including SIOP’s Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube accounts with new content
  • Analyze and report on social media trends and member content
  • Interact with AO staff, consultants, and SIOP volunteer leaders to promote SIOP and I-O psychology to various media outlets
  • Coordinate responses to media resource requests
  • Collaboratively create unique marketing plans for annual conference and/or consortium including emails, promotional copy, articles, etc.
  • Identify and promote current SIOP sources (i.e. conference sessions and the SIOP book series)
  • Work in team environment to provide support to the society and its members
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned

Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related business
  • 1 – 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated project and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and Google analytics
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Adobe Creative Suite would be a plus
  • Some travel required
