Supporting Equal Pay

How one organization is taking a stand on timely issues

Just in time for Tuesday’s Equal Pay Day, the PR Council issued statements last week promoting pay equity and declaring “zero tolerance” for discrimination and harassment in the public relations field.

The statement on pay equity called for “member agencies to adopt policies that ensure fair pay for all PR professionals and to utilize consistent criteria when determining initial and subsequent compensation decisions.”

“Consistent review of compensation will not only narrow the gender pay gap, but also boost productivity and benefit our members and their employees,” added the statement, signed off on by the council’s board of directors.

Representing more than 100 firms, the PRC is a U.S. membership-based industry association designed to empower the present and next generation of communications professionals, industry innovators and business leaders through education, events and industry resources. The PRC plays a critical role in elevating the practice of integrated communications and continuing to ensure its future as a leader in strategy and execution, and as a valuable part of the broader integrated marketing ecosystem. The PR Council identifies industry issues and challenges and brings an informed voice to serve as the rallying point for the smartest minds in communications.
