Sales and Marketing Specialist

American Society for Nondestructive Testing

The American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT), the world’s largest technical society for nondestructive testing (NDT), is seeking a proven sales and marketing professional with a high rate of “closing the deal” for its publications and website. This person will spend 75 percent of their time engaging with corporate and institutional decision makers and represent the society in business transactions by phone, email and in person. As Sales and Marketing Specialist, you will set sales and marketing strategies to ensure budgets are met while developing platforms that are attractive to both readers and advertisers alike. You will seek to drive sales and increase digital audiences. You will develop relationships with national and international advertisers. Twenty-five percent of the time will focus on marketing strategies and marketing expertise to help direct strategy and planning for promotional materials, marketing campaigns and other marketing activities.

Primary Job Functions

Strategic Sales Objectives:

  • Develop new advertising accounts and maintain an existing client base
  • Develop long-term strategic relationships with key accounts
  • Analyze sales/metrics data to help evolve your strategy
  • Ensure that clients receive the highest level of sales and operational customer service
  • Prioritize and deliver timely, high-quality work
  • Work with a small dedicated team of editors and production people

Major Responsibilities and Related Duties Include:

  • Inside sales and prospecting to new and existing clients
  • Building relationships with targeted companies/organizations through use of in person networking, phone calls and emails
  • Working on multiple goals/priorities
  • Developing advertising strategies for both print and digital media
  • Developing and maintaining good working business relationships within a multi-client environment; manage and grow a book of business
  • Remaining current with industry trends
  • Occasional travel to company-sponsored events and industry trade shows
  • Demonstrating expertise in various marketing areas such as content development and campaigns
  • Responsible for brand building, integrated marketing and innovative projects that will shape the future growth of the company

Professional Profile and Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in advertising, marketing or related field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be a people person
  • Proven track record of working positively as part of a team is crucial

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An ability to analyze quantitatively and problem-solve
  • Exhibit excellent judgment, negotiation and closing skills
  • Strong results orientation and Thinks Big
  • Marketing experience preferred
  • Most importantly, possess the ability to move advertising decision makers to commitment
