Ayesha Barenblat wants you to think before you buy your next article of clothing. She's the founder of Remake, a San Francisco–based nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness about the environmental destruction and human cost of the fashion industry.
She gets people to think primarily through digital storytelling — creating videos, photo-rich stories, and other compelling content meant to encourage people to "buy better." Buying better means taking into account the working conditions of workers in factories that make cheap clothing. It also means taking into account the pollution that unsustainable manufacturing practices cause across the world.
To compete with the companies whose practices it hopes to expose, Remake must make high-quality digital content. But on a shoestring budget, accessing tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Premiere — or any of the programs available in the Adobe Creative Cloud — can be challenging.
