National, Regional, City Officials Call for Peaceful Protest After Police Pepper-spray Them

They said the only way to enact change is through peaceful protest

Columbus City Council President Shannon Hardin tweeted that he, United States Representative Joyce Beatty and Franklin County Commissioner Kevin Boyce were hit with pepper spray or mace during Saturday's protest downtown.

Hardin tweeted they are okay and encouraged protesters and police to remain calm.

People gathered Saturday morning at the Ohio Statehouse and in the general downtown area to protest following the death of George Floyd in Minnesota earlier this week.
