COVID-19 Update: 9,922 New Cases Reported Today

Today, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reported 9,922 new cases of COVID-19 and 555 new hospitalizations. The agency also reported 223 additional deaths.
According to health officials, a portion of the 9,922 cases are part of a backlog of 7,699 positive COVID-19 tests between the dates of March 7 and Dec. 3. In a release, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) explained those cases will be added to 24-hour case totals between Dec. 14-16 while files continue to be processed.
ODH also reported 1,796,951 confirmed cases, 27,594 deaths and 90,923 hospitalizations. The agency also reported 1,634,681 presumed recoveries and indicated approximately 6,876,081 Ohioans have received at least one dose of the vaccine. This figure represents approximately 58.8 percent of Ohioans - a very low figure compared to numbers nationwide.
