Heavy Lake-effect Snow Makes Travel Difficult in Great Lakes Region

Some cities will experience below-average temperatures the entire week

Due to heavy lake-effect snow, post-Thanksgiving travel will be treacherous in parts of the Great Lakes region on Sunday, while biting cold temperatures for fall sweep across a large swath of the United States.

People in parts of New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania faced low temperatures and several feet of snow over the weekend; nearly 70 percent of the continental U.S. will feel the chill of temperatures below 32 degrees over the next few days. Some cities, including New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, Minneapolis and Cincinnati, will experience below-average temperatures for the entire week.

In the meantime, four million people remain under lake-effect snow warnings, with heavy snow already reported across parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York state. The warnings are set to expire Sunday night through Monday.
