Ohio Association of Broadcasters Welcomes Chad Budreau as its New President

The veteran association leader and former broadcaster starts today

The Ohio Association of Broadcasters (OAB) announced that Chad Budreau officially assumed his role as the association's new president on Dec. 9, 2024. Budreau brings more than a decade of association leadership experience and a background in broadcasting to his new position.

Budreau joins the OAB from the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA), where he worked for almost 15 years, including the last six as executive director. During his tenure at AMA, he successfully navigated an 88-year-old organization through the challenges presented by emerging industries like artificial intelligence and drone technology.

Budreau brings extensive advocacy experience to OAB, having led legislative efforts at all levels and worked with key regulatory bodies like the FAA, FCC and DHS. Prior to his work at AMA, he spent a number of years in the broadcast industry, working at WIPB-TV in Muncie, Indiana, WOUB-TV in Athens and Whitewater Broadcasting’s radio stations in Richmond, Indiana.

"We are delighted to have Chad on board at the OAB,” said Brian Lorenzen, president & general manager of WTOL-TV in Toledo and chair of the OAB board of directors. “His wealth of experience in association management, combined with his background in broadcasting and government relations, positions him perfectly to guide the OAB into the future. "

"It's an honor to join the OAB and reconnect with the broadcasting industry, where I began my career," said Budreau. "I am eager to collaborate with Ohio’s radio and television stations to strengthen our advocacy, foster innovation, and support the incredible work our members do for their local communities."

Budreau received a B.A. from Ball State University and an M.A. from Ohio University. He succeeds OSAP member Christine Merritt, who is retiring at the end of December after 22 years as OAB president.
