DE&I Is a Casualty in the Defense Spending Bill

However, there’s more aid for veterans who want to start businesses

As Congress continues to quibble over the continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government until next March, a mammoth package will soon be signed into law, and it's a significant one.

The $895 billion defense bill passed the House last week in a 281-140 vote, while the Senate on Tuesday evening gave it the green light in an 83-12 vote. The bill awaits President Joe Biden's sign-off.

The sprawling, 1,813-page bill, formally known as the National Defense Authorization Act, covers everything from expanding child care access for military members to giving service members pay bumps, with some raises hitting up to 14.5 percent for junior personnel.
